China, one of the richest countries in its cultural heritage and civilization marks the celebration of different festivals throughout the year. Among them, the people of China celebrated ‘Double-Nine Festival’ yesterday.
This festival falls on the 9th day of 9th months according to the lunar calendar that Chinese people follow. On the day, Chinese people show respect to the elderly people giving souvenir, chrysanthemum flower and delicious food and in return they receive blessing from elders.
People all around China enjoyed this festival yesterday organizing different cultural programs and many more. Young generations of China, especially students studying in different universities organized many programs to celebrate the festival. China West Normal University, Nanchang, Sichuan also organized especial program yesterday in which many foreign students studying in this university took part actively with Chinese students to learn the Chinese culture and other aspects. Chinese calligraphic writings, singing, dancing, playing Chinese traditional music, literature and arts, Chinese Kungfu Traditional Chinese Costume performance and many more were the main attractions of the program.
According to the management committee the aim of the program was to provide bridge activity to Chinese and foreign students who can enjoy a happy get-together through Chinese Double Nine Festival.
Wei Han, a student of CW-NU said ‘this festival is an artistic combination between tradition and modernization, which Chinese people are celebrating as double advantage festival. Furthermore Han said, on this occasion today, Chinese and foreign students can enjoy and learn what actually Double Nine Festival is’.
In this program Nepalese, American, African, Pakistani and hundreds of Chinese students were present.
In China, the Double Festival was regarded as a national festival for the old in 1989, aiming to advocating a fashion of respecting the old, caring for the old and assisting the old through the whole society.
The festival is especially for the respect for old those who devoted for their younger or children. On this day there are many works about respecting, taking good care of and loving the seniors.
Especially, people go out, ascend height to enjoy a distant view, enjoy chrysanthemum flower, plant cornels somewhere, enjoy Chon yang cake, and drink chrysanthemum wine in the festival.
